The crash, reported shortly before 5 p.m. p.m. on the northbound side, occurred at the intersection of Beechwood Avenue.

According to the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Traffic Enforcement Unit, a 2009 Toyota Rav 4, operated by a 55-year-old woman from Amenia, was traveling southbound on Route 9 and attempted to make a U-turn onto northbound Route 9.

A 2006 Honda motorcycle, operated by a 24-year old man from Hopewell Junction, was traveling northbound on Route 9.

As the Toyota Rav 4 was making the U-turn, the motorcycle collided into the Rav 4.

The impact of the crash caused the motorcycle to collide into a second vehicle that was traveling southbound on State Route 9.

The third vehicle was a 2015 BMW sedan, operated by a 29-year-old woman from Hyde Park.

The operator of the motorcycle sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The operators of the Toyota Rav 4 and BMW did not sustain any injuries in the crash.

There is no suspicion of impairment by any of the operators.

The investigation is ongoing and Town of Poughkeepsie Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit at 845-485-3680.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Arlington Fire District and Mobile Life Ambulance.

All lanes of northbound State Route 9 were closed during the investigation and southbound traffic was limited to one lane.

The road was closed for approximately four-hours while crash investigators processed the scene. All lanes of Route 9 were reopened to traffic at approximately 9:59 p.m.
